The Atelier's Arts

Three Disciplines, One Flourishing Hand

Every commission passes through the same sunlit studio, the same patient line, the same gilded finish.

Botanical Illustration

Ink-and-wash studies drawn from living reference — every vein, tendril, and petal rendered with patient, gilded precision.

Ornamental Design

Whiplash borders, rosettes, and stained-glass palettes composed for book covers, labels, and interiors that breathe with organic grace.

Atelier Workshops

Seasonal sessions in our sunlit studio, where small cohorts learn classical line, ornament, and gold-leaf technique from working illustrators.

From First Bloom to Final Gild

How a Commission Unfolds

  1. The Consultation

We meet over tea or by letter to hear your vision — subject, mood, and palette — and agree upon scope and terms.

  2. The Study & Sketch

Live studies and compositional sketches are drawn and sent for your notes before a single drop of gilt is laid.

  3. The Finished Masterwork

Your piece is inked, washed, and gilded by hand, then delivered with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Questions, Answered Gently

From the Atelier Ledger

How does a commission begin?

With a conversation. Write describing your subject, occasion, and mood; we reply within two days with scope, timeline, and a formal quotation.

What timelines should I expect?

A Sketch ripens in two to three weeks, The Atelier in five to seven, and Grand Commissions are scheduled across a full season of studio time.

How many revisions are included?

Each tier carries its stated revisions — one, three, or five — applied at the sketch stage, where changes bloom most naturally. Further rounds are invoiced modestly.

May I license the artwork?

Originals are yours outright. Reproduction and product licensing may be written into the contract for a negotiated royalty or buyout.

Do you ship originals internationally?

Yes — works travel in archival tissue within a rigid portfolio case, fully insured and tracked to your door, anywhere in the world.

When do atelier workshops open?

Cohorts are gathered each season — spring botanicals, autumn ornament — and announced first to our mailing list.
