What we hold dear

Three threads run through every story we publish.

Clay & Ceramics

From wood-fired kilns in Ouro Preto to small studios in São Paulo, we follow raw earth as it becomes the tiles, pots, and platters that warm a room.

Natural Fibers & Wood

Buriti palm, wicker, linen, and reclaimed pequiá wood — we show how woven textures soften modern life, and where to source them responsibly.

Artisans & Community

Behind every object is a maker. We pay every featured artisan a share of memberships and connect readers to workshops and open studios across Brazil.

How the circle works

From reading to making to belonging — at your own pace.

  1. Read the Stories

House tours and artisan profiles land in the Journal twice a week — slow, photo-rich, and free.

  2. Learn the Techniques

Step-by-step guides and video walks teach you to work with clay, fiber, and wood at any skill level.

  3. Share with the Community

Post your own corners, trade tips in the atelier threads, and meet makers at monthly live sessions.

Voices from the circle

Readers and makers who let the earth in.

"I rebuilt my whole kitchen around what I learned here — raw clay, open shelves, and my grandmother's pots finally out in the daylight."

"The fiber guides gave my clients' homes a warmth that drawings never could. It is the only design letter I read twice."

"I joined for the house tours and stayed for the people. The atelier Q&A felt like an afternoon on a friend's porch."

Questions, answered

Everything readers ask before pulling up a chair.

What kind of content do you publish?

Long-form house tours, artisan profiles, and hands-on technique guides — all photographed in real Brazilian homes and studios. We publish twice a week, with no paywalls on the Journal.

Is the Journal really free?

Yes — the Reader tier is free forever. Memberships exist to pay featured artisans a share and to fund workshops, never to lock the stories away.

Do you host live workshops?

Every month online, plus seasonal in-person ateliers held in a different region each time. Members get recordings; Atelier Circle patrons book their seats first.

Can I share my own home or craft?

We'd love that. Send a note through Contact with a few photos — reader houses and maker stories are featured in the Journal each month.

How do I cancel my membership?

One click from your account page — no email required. You keep access until the end of your billing period, and you can rejoin anytime.

One slow letter each month: a house tour, a technique, and a maker's hands. No noise — only earth.
