The Digital Scribe House
Nimbus pairs an interactive hieroglyph tutor with a facsimile papyrus archive — so scholars and the curious alike can decipher Egypt's written world, sign by sign.
The Instrument
Every glyph in our 1,000-sign inventory carries its Gardiner code, phonology, and a mnemonic carved for memory. Streaks keep your daily practice honest.
Browse 4,800 high-resolution facsimiles — from Book of the Dead sheets to granary receipts — with deep zoom and side-by-side transcription.
Switch between hieroglyphic, transliteration, and English in a single tap. Cite the original or the translation — the plate serves both.
The Method
STEP I
Choose your corpus — temple walls, coffins, or papyri. Each text records its provenance, period, and difficulty.
STEP II
Tap any sign for pronunciation, meaning, and variants. The tutor tracks what you have mastered and what still resists you.
STEP III
Annotate passages and export your work as a print-ready scholarly plate, complete with bibliography.
From the Field
"Nimbus reads like a good excavation report — careful, sourced, and quietly beautiful. My students stopped fearing Middle Egyptian."
Dr. Selene HasaniEgyptologist, Cairo
"The facsimile plates are the finest I have cited in thirty years of cataloguing. The three-layer view alone justifies the subscription."
Marcus DeneuveCurator, Musée des Antiquités
"I transcribed a full coffin set in one week. The sign library caught three misreadings my advisor would have flagged — before she did."
