The Ton Approves

I arrived a stranger and left with three engagements, two rival admirers, and a standing invitation to Pemberton House.

The correspondence alone is worth the subscription. My pen has not known such exercise since Eton.

One waltz at their midsummer ball and I abandoned my skepticism entirely. The arrangements are impeccable.

Frequently Asked

Must I dress in period costume?

Full costume is admired, never required. Most members arrive in something romantic and comfortable; a few arrive in breeches, and we love them for it.

Are the letters genuinely handwritten?

Every one. Our secretaries take dictation by candlelight and post by the morrow. You may keep a nom de plume if you wish your admirers discreet.

Where are the gatherings held?

In letted townhouses, conservatories, and gardens in each city we serve. Venues are announced to members a fortnight before each engagement.

May I withdraw from the club?

Any member may take leave of the Season at month's end — no questions asked, no scandal incurred, and a warm welcome should you return.

Is my identity kept discreet?

Titles and pseudonyms are equally welcome. We guard our members' secrets as fiercely as our own, which is to say, fiercely indeed.
