### **0. PROJECT DEFINITION**

**0.1 Theme**
Swiss Graphic Design / International Typographic Style: clean, structured, typographic, grid-driven, minimalist, objective, functional, asymmetrical. Mid-20th-century modernist aesthetic — strong 12-column grid, grotesque sans-serif typography, hairline rules, generous negative space, flush-left rag-right text, zero ornamentation, zero rounded corners, flat elevation (borders, never drop shadows).

**0.2 Color Palette (source of truth for all tokens)**
Signal Red `#D82C2C` · Black `#1A1A1A` · White `#FFFFFF` · Cool Grey `#A9B2B1` · Deep Blue `#0033A0` · Light Grey `#F2F2F2`

**0.3 Sections (build in this order)**
1. **Header/Nav** — sticky, hairline bottom border; typographic wordmark (e.g., "GRID." with a red period); nav links; theme toggle; primary CTA. Accessible mobile menu (button with `aria-expanded`, collapsible flex column).
2. **Hero** — asymmetrical: oversized 900-weight headline spanning grid columns 1–7 with one signal-red accent word; supporting deck flush left; primary button + secondary text link with arrow icon; columns 9–12 hold a pure-CSS geometric composition (red square, black bar, grey circle). *Note: objective photography is replaced by this CSS geometric composition to keep the deliverable self-contained.*
3. **Features** — Swiss section label ("01 — Features"); 3 cards (Spec 2.2), numbered 01/02/03, one Material icon each.
4. **How It Works** — 3 steps with oversized numerals, horizontal hairline rules, asymmetric column offsets.
5. **Testimonials** — 3 quotes; one featured quote spans a wider column (asymmetry); attributions with name and role.
6. **Pricing** — 3 tiers; middle tier featured (2px `--primary` border + "Featured" tag); oversized price numerals; feature lists; per-tier CTA.
7. **FAQ** — accessible accordion, 5–6 real Q&As, hairline dividers (Spec 2.4).
8. **Final CTA** — full-bleed inverted block (token-driven: `--text-primary` background, `--bg-primary` text), huge type, email capture form (Spec 2.3), single primary button.
9. **Footer** — hairline top border; secondary link columns (Product / Company / Legal); small print; copyright line.

**0.4 Copy Rules**
All user-facing copy in **English**. Invent one coherent fictional product fitting the theme (e.g., "GRID — a precision layout tool for designers"). Swiss tone: short declarative sentences, objective, no marketing fluff. **No lorem ipsum anywhere** — write real copy for every section.

### **1. STRICT RULES & ARCHITECTURE**

**1.1 CSS-First Architecture & Zero Inline CSS**
- All styling lives in `style.css`. The `style="..."` attribute is **forbidden** in HTML.
- Target all design properties, layout rules, and states via class/ID selectors only.
- HTML stays clean, semantic, and style-agnostic: retheming the site must require editing `style.css` only, never the markup.

**1.2 CSS Variables & Theme Tokens**
Store every visual token in `:root` (and theme classes):
- **Colors:** `--primary: #D82C2C`; `--secondary: #0033A0`; `--bg-primary: #fefefe` (never `#ffffff` — near-white preserves the Swiss white field); `--bg-secondary: #F2F2F2`; `--text-primary: #1A1A1A`; `--text-secondary: #4A4A4A` (darkened neutral — Cool Grey `#A9B2B1` fails text contrast and is reserved for `--border-default` and oversized decorative numerals); `--text-success: #1F7A3D`; `--text-error: #D82C2C`; `--border-default: #A9B2B1`; `--border-error: #D82C2C`; `--border-success: #1F7A3D`.
- **Contrast pairing:** every light background token pairs with a dark text token and vice versa — enforced in **both** themes, not just the default.
- **Radius:** `--radius-sm` / `--radius-md` / `--radius-lg` must be defined but resolve to `0` (Swiss sharp edges; only loading spinners may use `50%`).
- **Shadows:** `--shadow-sm` / `--shadow-md` must be defined but flat — Swiss elevation is a 1px solid hairline border, never a drop shadow.
- **Spacing & transitions:** `--spacing-gap: 20px`; `--transition-fast: 120ms`; `--transition-normal: 200ms`; `--ease-standard: cubic-bezier(0.2, 0, 0.2, 1)`.
- **Stacking:** `--z-dropdown: 100`; `--z-modal: 200`; `--z-toast: 300` — layered components must never collide.

**1.3 Mandatory Dark Mode Support**
- Define dark tokens under **both** `@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark)` and a `.dark` class on `<html>`.
- **Dark palette:** `--bg-primary: #111111`; `--bg-secondary: #1E1E1E`; `--text-primary: #F2F2F2`; `--text-secondary: #A9B2B1` (passes contrast on dark); `--primary: #E8434A` for small text and lines (retain `#D82C2C` for large graphic blocks); `--border-default: #3A3A3A`.
- Switching must require **zero HTML restructuring** — variables only.
- Persist the user's choice via `localStorage`; fall back to `prefers-color-scheme` on first visit; ship a visible header toggle with correct `aria-pressed` / `aria-label` state.
- **Exception note:** the source spec requested light-mode-only output; dark mode remains mandatory — implement it as the Swiss inverted palette above.

**1.4 Layout — Swiss Grid + Flexbox Standards**
- **Macro layout:** 12-column CSS Grid — `grid-template-columns: repeat(12, 1fr)`; `gap: var(--spacing-gap)`; centered max-width container (~1200px); `text-align: left` everywhere (flush left, rag right; never justified).
- **Exception note:** the Swiss theme mandates CSS Grid for macro page structure; Flexbox remains mandatory for every component-level container, defaulting to `align-items: center` unless an asymmetry is explicitly justified in a CSS comment.
- **Mobile-first:** all grid layouts collapse to a single column at small viewports; no horizontal scrolling at any width; fluid type via `clamp()`.

**1.5 Framework Default**
Use Tailwind CSS or clean custom CSS driven by Tailwind's `@layer` / `@apply` directives. Every utility must map back to CSS variables or generic reusable classes (`.btn`, `.card`, `.input-group`, `.accordion__item`). Never hardcode raw hex values outside `:root`.

**1.6 Typography & Icons (Google Fonts Mandatory)**
- **Text:** load Google Fonts **Inter** (400, 500, 700, 900) and bind `--font-base` to the stack: `'Inter', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif`.
- **Exception note:** Helvetica Neue is not distributed on Google Fonts; Inter is the mandatory Google Font, with Helvetica Neue retained only as a local fallback in the stack.
- **Icons:** Google Material Symbols (Outlined) via Google's CDN. Raw inline SVGs and local icon files are **forbidden**. Use icons sparingly and functionally only — Swiss design tolerates zero ornamentation: one icon per feature card, plus/minus on FAQ, arrow on CTA links, close X on overlays.
- **Hierarchy:** `h1` at `clamp(2.75rem, 8vw, 6rem)`, weight 900, line-height 0.95–1.05, flush left; section labels uppercase, small, letter-spaced, numbered ("01 — Features"); body 1rem / 1.6.

### **2. COMPONENT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS**

**2.1 Button (`.btn`, `.btn--primary`, `.btn--secondary`, `.btn-danger`)**
- **Default:** `display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; gap: 0.5rem;` minimum touch target 44×44px; sharp corners; uppercase letter-spaced label.
- **`.btn--primary`:** solid `--primary` background, white text. **Hover:** darkened red (`#B22222`) + `cursor: pointer`. **Focus:** distinct 2px solid `--primary` outline with 3px offset, keyboard-visible in both themes. **Active:** `transform: scale(0.97)`.
- **Loading:** `aria-busy="true"`, pointer-events disabled to prevent double-clicks, CSS border spinner (the only element allowed `border-radius: 50%`) that never changes button dimensions.
- **Disabled:** `opacity: 0.5`; greyscale; `cursor: not-allowed`.
- **Success/Error:** temporary feedback states styled via `--text-success` / `--text-error`, always paired with an icon and text — never color alone.
- **`.btn-danger`:** solid `--text-error` background, white text, mandatory warning/delete Material icon and explicit label so it stays distinct from `.btn--primary` in both themes.

**2.2 Card (`.card`)**
- **Default:** flexible Flexbox layout, 1px solid `--border-default`, `--bg-secondary` surface, padding from the spacing scale.
- **Hover:** `transform: translateY(-2px)` plus border-color shift to `--primary` (flat — no shadows).
- **Focus-within:** card border highlights when a child link/button receives focus.
- **Loading:** CSS shimmer skeleton that preserves final dimensions (no layout jump).
- **Empty state:** structured fallback with one Material icon and clear guidance text.
- Pricing cards reuse `.card`; the featured tier adds a 2px `--primary` border and "Featured" tag. Testimonial cards reuse `.card` with oversized quotation typography.

**2.3 Form & Input (`.input-group`)**
- **Structure:** Flex container wrapping `<label>`, the input, and a dedicated error-feedback element with `aria-live="polite"`.
- **States to style:** empty, focused (2px `--primary` ring), filled, valid (`--border-success` + check icon), invalid (`--border-error`, red helper text, error icon), disabled, read-only.
- Used by the Final CTA email capture; validation feedback must be visible and announced to assistive tech.

**2.4 FAQ Accordion & Modal/Popup**
- **FAQ:** `<button aria-expanded>` headers + panels; plus/minus Material icon rotating 45° on open; panels animate height via CSS transitions; fully keyboard operable; hairline dividers between items.
- **Any modal/popup:** centered Flexbox overlay (`align-items: center`), backdrop, Material close icon, focus trapping, close via `Esc` and overlay click; states opening → open → loading → success/error → closing, all animated via CSS transitions; z-index from `--z-modal`.

---

### **3. CORE UX & MICRO-INTERACTION RULES**

- **Responsive by default:** fluid `clamp()` sizing, breakpoints without horizontal overflow, single-column stacking on mobile.
- **Smooth animations:** `transition: var(--transition-normal)` on every state change; fully respect `prefers-reduced-motion` (disable transforms, spinners, shimmer).
- **Accessibility (a11y):** WCAG AA contrast in light and dark modes; never communicate state by color alone; semantic HTML5 (`header`, `nav`, `main`, `section`, `footer`; exactly one `h1`; logical heading order); correct ARIA roles/labels on custom widgets; logical DOM/focus order; full keyboard operability — no mouse-only interactions; `aria-live` regions for form errors, toasts, and loading states.
- **Mandatory visual feedback:** every click, hover, and submission triggers a visible state change.
- **Destructive actions:** `.btn-danger` must be visually distinct in both themes (icon + label + fill, per 2.1).

---

### **4. DELIVERABLE & OUTPUT FORMAT**

- **Files:** separate `index.html`, `style.css`, `script.js`. No inline `<script>` blocks beyond a single deferred entry point (`<script src="script.js" defer>`).
- **Naming:** one convention everywhere — BEM (`block__element--modifier`). Never mix conventions.
- **Assets:** Google Fonts + Material Symbols via `<link>` tags in `<head>`. No other external dependencies.
- **Copy:** all user-facing copy in English, real and specific to the invented product — lorem ipsum is prohibited because all sections and content are specified.
- **JS scope:** theme toggle (localStorage + `prefers-color-scheme` + `aria-pressed` sync), mobile menu, FAQ accordion, form validation feedback, button loading states. No other behavior unless required by the sections above.
- Deliver complete, runnable code on the **first attempt**.
