## 0. PROJECT BRIEF

**Theme:** Swiss / International Typographic Style (1950s–1960s; Josef Müller-Brockmann, Armin Hofmann; Basel & Zurich schools).
**Keywords:** Mathematical grid systems and rigorous alignment; Helvetica/Akzidenz-Grotesk grotesque typography; flush-left, ragged-right text; objective, neutral tone; hierarchy via size and weight only; generous whitespace; photography over illustration; Müller-Brockmann concert poster discipline.
**Light/Dark note (translated from source):** The source style does not declare modes — you must implement and validate **both light and dark mode** before considering the deliverable complete.

**Sections to build, in order:**
1. **Header/Nav** — wordmark, anchor links, theme toggle, CTA button; sticky, 2px bottom border.
2. **Hero** — oversized flush-left display headline (use `--text-5xl`, fluid via `clamp()`), a single red accent element, short subcopy, primary + secondary CTA, grayscale photograph.
3. **Features** — exactly 3 cards in a 3-column grid (span 4 of 12 each), one Material Symbol per card.
4. **How It Works** — exactly 3 steps with oversized numerals `01 / 02 / 03`.
5. **Testimonials** — 3 objective quotes with small muted attributions.
6. **Pricing** — 3 tiers; the middle tier is visually featured (red border or badge).
7. **FAQ** — accessible accordion, 5–6 items.
8. **Final CTA** — large statement + email capture form.
9. **Footer** — secondary link columns, small muted type, 2px top border, legal line.

**Product concept:** Content was left unspecified — invent **one coherent, neutral product concept** (e.g., a grid-based layout tool named "GRID") and write all copy in an objective, declarative Swiss voice: short sentences, no hyperbole, no exclamation marks. Lorem ipsum is prohibited.

## 1. STRICT RULES & ARCHITECTURE

### 1.1 CSS-First Architecture & Zero Inline CSS
* **No Inline CSS:** The `style="..."` attribute is forbidden anywhere in the HTML.
* **Class/ID Selectors Only:** All design properties, layout rules, and states must be targeted via class or ID selectors in `style.css`.
* **Minimal HTML Modifications:** HTML must remain clean, semantic, and agnostic of visual styling; changing the site's look must require editing only the CSS file.

### 1.2 CSS Variables & Theme Tokens
Retain the source token block's values, space scale (`--space-1`…`--space-16`), modular type scale (`--text-xs`…`--text-5xl`, ratio 1.333), `--baseline: 8px`, `--columns: 12`, and `--ease-standard: cubic-bezier(0.4, 0, 0.2, 1)` — then expose everything under these **mandatory canonical tokens** in `:root` (light mode):

* **Colors:** `--bg-primary: #ffffff`; `--bg-secondary: #f2f2f2`; `--primary: #e2001a`; `--primary-contrast: #ffffff`; `--secondary: #000000`; `--text-primary: #111111`; `--text-secondary: #555555`; `--text-success: #1a7f37`; `--text-error: #e2001a`; `--border-default: #111111`; `--border-success: #1a7f37`; `--border-error: #e2001a`; keep `--color-grid: #d9d9d9` for grid rules.
* **Exception clause:** The source palette explicitly declares `#ffffff` as the light-mode background — an intentional Swiss Style choice — so `#ffffff` is permitted for `--bg-primary` in light mode only; all other near-white surfaces must use `#fefefe` or declared tokens, never default pure white.
* **Radius:** `--radius-sm/md/lg/pill: 0px` — sharp corners everywhere; rounded corners are forbidden.
* **Shadows:** `--shadow-none: none` is the resting default (Swiss flatness); define `--shadow-sm: 0 1px 2px rgba(17,17,17,0.08)` and `--shadow-md: 0 4px 16px rgba(17,17,17,0.14)` for hover/overlay elevation only, used with restraint.
* **Spacing/Motion:** `--spacing-gap: 16px`; `--transition-fast: 120ms`; `--transition-normal: 240ms`; `--ease-standard` as above.
* **Elevation:** `--z-dropdown: 100` (sticky header, mobile nav); `--z-modal: 200`; `--z-toast: 300`.
* **Contrast Pairing:** Every light background token must pair with a dark text token and vice versa — enforced in every theme, not just the default.
* **Rewire the source base classes:** Replace hardcoded hex values (e.g., `color: #ffffff` in `.btn--primary` and `.badge`) with `var(--primary-contrast)` so themes switch seamlessly.

### 1.3 Mandatory Dark Mode Support
* **Implementation:** Define dark tokens under a `.dark` class selector **and** an `@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark)` fallback. Dark palette: `--bg-primary: #111111`; `--bg-secondary: #1e1e1e`; `--text-primary: #fefefe`; `--text-secondary: #a6a6a6`; `--primary: #ff4d5e` (brightened for ≥4.5:1 on dark); `--primary-contrast: #111111`; `--secondary: #fefefe`; `--border-default: #fefefe`; `--color-grid: #3a3a3a`; `--text-success: #4ade80`; `--text-error: #ff4d5e`; `--border-success/--border-error` accordingly; shadows switch to `rgba(0,0,0,0.5)`-based values.
* **Theme Switching:** Background and text variables must flip with zero HTML restructuring.
* **Persistence:** Store the choice in `localStorage`, fall back to `prefers-color-scheme` on first visit, and provide a visible toggle in the header with correct `aria-pressed` and `aria-label` ("Switch to dark mode" / "Switch to light mode") and a Material Symbols icon.
* **Validation:** Verify contrast and legibility of every section in **both modes** before delivering (per the source note).

### 1.4 Flexbox Layout & Mobile-First Alignment
* **Macro grid:** Build section layouts on a mathematical 12-column CSS Grid (`grid-template-columns: repeat(12, 1fr)`, fixed max-width container, `gap: var(--spacing-gap)`), honoring `--columns: 12` and the 8px baseline rhythm.
* **Default Alignment Rule:** Every flex container must default to `align-items: center` unless an exception is explicitly justified in a CSS comment.
* **Mobile-Friendly First:** All multi-column layouts collapse to single columns on small viewports; no horizontal scrolling; minimum touch targets of 44x44px.

### 1.5 CSS Approach
* Use **clean, custom, token-driven CSS** in a single `style.css` (the source spec supplies custom CSS tokens; no framework was requested). Organize with `@layer` order: tokens → base → layout → components → utilities. Every component class must map back to the CSS variables above.

### 1.6 Typography & Icons (Google Fonts Mandatory)
* **Text:** Load **Inter** (weights 400/500/700/900) from Google Fonts via `<link>` and bind `--font-sans` / `--font-display` to the stack `'Inter', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif`.
* **Exception clause:** Helvetica/Akzidenz-Grotesk are not distributed on Google Fonts; the mandatory Google Fonts rule is preserved by loading Inter as the grotesque stand-in, with `'Helvetica Neue'` retained as a local fallback in the stack.
* **Typographic discipline:** Flush-left, ragged-right (`text-align: left` everywhere; justification forbidden); hierarchy via size and weight only; uppercase + letter-spacing permitted for small labels; no italics, no decorative fonts.
* **Icons:** Google Material Symbols (Outlined), monochrome, `color: currentColor`, used sparingly. Raw inline SVGs and local icon files are forbidden.
* **Imagery:** Honor "photography over illustration" — use grayscale photographic placeholders from `picsum.photos` (seeded, e.g. `.../seed/swiss1/800/600`) with `filter: grayscale(1) contrast(1.05)` and descriptive English `alt` text. No illustrations, emoji art, or gradients.

## 2. COMPONENT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

### 2.1 Button Component
Style all states via CSS classes, starting from the source `.btn` base (flex, `align-items: center`, `justify-content: center`, `gap: 0.5rem`, 700 weight, 2px solid border, radius 0):
* **Default:** Minimum 44x44px touch target; `transition: var(--transition-fast) var(--ease-standard)`.
* **Hover:** `translateY(-1px)` + `filter: brightness(0.96)` or `--shadow-sm`; `cursor: pointer`.
* **Focus:** Distinct `:focus-visible` ring — 2px solid `var(--primary)`, offset 2px.
* **Active/Pressed:** `transform: scale(0.97)` click feedback.
* **Loading:** `.btn--loading` disables interaction and double-clicks; renders a rotating Material Symbols "progress" icon (CSS animation) without distorting button dimensions.
* **Disabled:** `opacity: 0.5`, greyscale, `cursor: not-allowed`, no transforms.
* **Success/Error:** Temporary `.btn--success` / `.btn--error` states driven by `--text-success` / `--text-error`, always paired with icon + text, never color alone.
* **Variants:** `.btn--primary` (bg `var(--primary)`, color `var(--primary-contrast)`), `.btn--secondary`, and `.btn--danger` (visually distinct in both themes).

### 2.2 Card Component
* **Default:** Flexible flexbox layout, `background: var(--bg-secondary)`, 2px solid `var(--border-default)`, radius 0, padding `var(--space-6)`.
* **Hover:** Elevation shift to `--shadow-md` and/or `translateY(-2px)`.
* **Focus-within:** Border highlights to `var(--primary)` when a child link/button receives focus.
* **Loading (Skeleton):** `.card--skeleton` shimmer keyframes (restrained, grayscale) that preserve layout dimensions.
* **Empty State:** Structured fallback with a Material Symbol and clear English guidance text.

### 2.3 Form & Input Requirements (Final CTA email capture)
* **States:** Empty; Focused (2px outline `var(--primary)`, offset 2px); Filled; Valid (`.input--valid`: `--border-success` + check icon); Invalid (`.input--invalid`: `--border-error`, error text in `var(--text-error)`, error icon); Disabled; Read-only.
* **Structure:** Flex `.input-group` wrapping a `<label>`, the `.input` field, and a dedicated error `<p>` container with `aria-live="polite"`.
* **Behavior:** Client-side email validation on submit; the submit button must run loading → success/error states; error/success communicated via icon + English text, never color alone.

### 2.4 Modal / Popup Requirements
* **Scope:** No modal is required for this landing page. If any overlay is introduced (e.g., a fullscreen mobile menu), it must use: centered flex container (`align-items: center`), backdrop overlay with blur, `--z-modal`, CSS-transitioned opening/closing, Material Symbols close button, keyboard focus trapping, close via `Esc` or overlay click, and focus returned to the trigger. Prefer an inline collapsible nav if it avoids the overlay entirely.

### 2.5 FAQ Accordion
* Each item: a `<button class="faq__trigger" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="...">` containing the question and a Material Symbols "expand_more" icon that rotates 180° when open; answer region with `role="region"` and `aria-labelledby`; height/opacity transition `var(--transition-normal)`; fully keyboard operable (Enter/Space); JS toggles classes only — no inline styles.

---

## 3. CORE UX & MICRO-INTERACTION RULES

* **Responsive by Default:** Fluid type via `clamp()`; 3-column layouts collapse to 1 column on mobile; zero horizontal overflow.
* **Smooth Animations:** `transition: var(--transition-normal)` on all state changes; fully respect `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce` (disable transforms, shimmer, spinner rotation — extend the source media query globally).
* **Accessibility (a11y):** AA contrast in both light and dark modes; never rely on color alone; semantic HTML5 (`header`, `nav`, `main`, `section`, `footer`); skip-to-content link; logical DOM/focus order; full keyboard operability; `aria-live` regions for form feedback and dynamic updates.
* **Mandatory Visual Feedback:** Every click, hover, and submission triggers a visible state change.
* **Destructive Actions:** Any destructive control uses `.btn--danger`, visually distinct in both themes.
* **Swiss Restraint:** `var(--primary)` red is the only accent — used sparingly (CTAs, step numerals, featured pricing tier, focus rings). No gradients, no rounded corners, no resting drop shadows. Blur is permitted only as a subtle sticky-header backdrop filter.

---

## 4. DELIVERABLE & OUTPUT FORMAT

* **File Structure:** Separate `index.html`, `style.css`, and `script.js`. No inline styles; no inline `<script>` blocks beyond a single deferred `<script src="script.js" defer></script>` entry point.
* **Naming Convention:** BEM (`block__element--modifier`) exclusively — consistent with the source's `.btn--primary` pattern. Never mix conventions.
* **Copy:** Real, concise, objective English copy throughout — lorem-ipsum-only submissions are prohibited. Placeholder images are permitted only via `picsum.photos` as specified in 1.6.
* **HTML head:** Google Fonts (Inter) and Google Material Symbols links, `lang="en"`, descriptive `<title>`, meta description.
* **JS Scope:** Theme toggle with persistence, FAQ accordion, email form validation with loading/success/error states, and mobile nav — all via class toggles; no styling logic in JavaScript.
* **Final Check:** Before delivering, validate light and dark modes, every component state (hover, focus, active, loading, disabled, error, success), and complete keyboard navigation.
