### 1. STRICT RULES & ARCHITECTURE

**1.1 CSS-First Architecture & Zero Inline CSS**
* All styling must live in a dedicated `style.css` file. The `style="..."` attribute is forbidden in HTML.
* All design properties, layout rules, and states must be targeted via class or ID selectors only.
* HTML must remain clean, semantic, and styling-agnostic. Changing the site's look must require editing only `style.css`.

**1.2 CSS Variables & Theme Tokens**
Use the Talavera token set in `:root` exactly as provided in the reference CSS, extended with the standard token set:
* **Colors:** `--color-bg: #f5f2ea`, `--color-surface: #ffffff`, `--color-surface-2: #e7edf2`, `--color-text: #0b2f52`, `--color-text-muted: #3d5a75`, `--color-primary: #0b2f52`, `--color-accent: #d94f2b`, `--color-yellow: #f2b705`, `--color-green: #3f7d4c`. Also define `--text-success: #3f7d4c`, `--text-error: #d94f2b`, `--border-default`, `--border-error`, `--border-success`.
* **Contrast Pairing:** Every light background token must pair with dark text (`#0b2f52`), and every dark background token with light text (`#fefefe` or `#ffffff`) — in both light and dark themes.
* **Radius & Shadows:** `--radius-sm: 8px`, `--radius-md: 16px`, `--radius-lg: 28px`, `--radius-pill: 999px`, `--shadow-glaze`, `--shadow-glaze-sm` as specified.
* **Spacing, Transitions, Easing:** `--space-1` through `--space-24`, `--ease-standard: cubic-bezier(0.34, 1.2, 0.4, 1)`, `--transition-fast: 150ms`, `--transition-normal: 250ms`.
* **Stacking:** `--z-dropdown: 100`, `--z-modal: 200`, `--z-toast: 300`.
* **Signature Talavera tokens (mandatory use):** `--glaze-sheen` (glossy diagonal highlight overlay on cards/buttons) and `--tile-border` (repeating multicolor cobalt/yellow/orange/green stripe) — apply `--tile-border` as decorative section dividers, hero frame edges, or footer top border to achieve the "ornament edge-to-edge" maximalist feel.

**1.3 Mandatory Dark Mode**
* Define dark tokens under `@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark)` **and** a `.dark` class on `<html>`/`<body>`. Dark palette: deep cobalt backgrounds (e.g., `#081f36` bg, `#0b2f52` surface, `#123a5e` surface-2), light text (`#f5f2ea`), keeping accent `#d94f2b`, yellow `#f2b705`, green `#3f7d4c` adjusted for contrast.
* Theme choice persists via `localStorage`, falling back to `prefers-color-scheme` on first visit.
* Include a visible theme toggle button in the nav with correct `aria-pressed` and `aria-label` ("Toggle dark mode") states, using a Google Material Symbol icon (`dark_mode` / `light_mode`).

**1.4 Flexbox Layout & Mobile-First**
* Build all layout structures with Flexbox. Every flex container defaults to `align-items: center` unless an exception is explicitly justified in a CSS comment.
* All layouts must be mobile-responsive out of the box: multi-column grids (Features, Pricing, Testimonials) collapse to a single column on small viewports. No horizontal scrolling at any width.

**1.5 Framework**
* Use plain CSS driven by the provided token set (no Tailwind required unless requested). All utility classes must map back to CSS variables or the generic reusable classes defined below (`.btn`, `.btn--primary`, `.card`, `.input`, `.badge`, `.nav`).

**1.6 Typography & Icons (Google Fonts Mandatory)**
* Load **Google Fonts** via `<link>`: `Playfair Display` (display headings) and `Fraunces` (body/base), bound to `--font-display` and `--font-sans` as specified.
* Icons: **Google Material Symbols** only. Raw inline SVGs and local icon files are forbidden.

### 2. COMPONENT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

**2.1 Buttons (`.btn`, `.btn--primary`, `.btn--danger`)**
* **Default:** `display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; gap: 0.5rem;` minimum touch target 44×44px; 2px cobalt border; glaze sheen on primary variant.
* **Hover:** `box-shadow: var(--shadow-glaze-sm)` + `transform: translateY(-1px)`, `cursor: pointer`.
* **Focus:** `outline: 3px solid var(--color-accent); outline-offset: 3px` on `:focus-visible`.
* **Active:** `transform: scale(0.97)` click feedback.
* **Loading:** `.btn--loading` disables pointer events, shows an animated Material Symbol (`progress` with CSS rotation) without distorting button dimensions.
* **Disabled:** `opacity: 0.45; cursor: not-allowed;` no shadow, no transform.
* **Danger:** `.btn--danger` uses `--color-accent` background with light text — must be visually distinct in both themes.

**2.2 Cards (`.card`)**
* **Default:** Flexbox layout, 3px cobalt border, 8px accent top border, `--shadow-glaze`, glaze sheen overlay.
* **Hover (interactive cards):** `transform: translateY(-2px)` + shadow elevation shift.
* **Focus-within:** border highlights when a child link/button receives focus.
* **Skeleton:** `.card--skeleton` shimmer animation (CSS keyframes) sized to prevent layout jumps.
* **Empty State:** fallback layout with a Material Symbol icon and guidance text.

**2.3 Forms & Inputs (`.input`)**
* States: Empty, Focused (accent border + `--shadow-glaze-sm`), Filled, Valid (green border + `check` icon), Invalid (error border, error text, `error` icon), Disabled, Read-only.
* Structure: flex container wrapping label, input, and a dedicated error feedback element with `aria-live="polite"`.

**2.4 FAQ Accordion / Modal behavior**
* FAQ items use `<details>`/`<summary>` (or ARIA-correct buttons) with animated open/close via CSS transitions; keyboard operable; `aria-expanded` states maintained.
* Any modal/popup: centered flex container, backdrop overlay, Material Symbol close button, focus trapping, closes on `Esc` and overlay click, opening/closing animated via CSS transitions.

---

### 3. CORE UX & MICRO-INTERACTION RULES

* **Responsive by default:** fluid sizing, no horizontal overflow at any breakpoint.
* **Smooth animations:** `transition: var(--transition-normal)` on all state changes; respect `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce` (disable transforms/transitions globally).
* **Accessibility:** WCAG-sufficient contrast in both light and dark modes. Never rely on color alone to communicate state. Semantic HTML5 (`header`, `main`, `section`, `footer`, `nav`), correct ARIA roles/labels, logical focus order, full keyboard operability, `aria-live` regions for dynamic feedback.
* **Mandatory visual feedback:** every click, hover, and submission triggers a visible state change.
* **Talavera maximalism:** apply the multicolor `--tile-border` stripe and glaze sheen edge-to-edge — section dividers, hero frame, footer top edge — while keeping text areas clean and readable.

### 4. DELIVERABLE & OUTPUT FORMAT

* **Files:** Separate `index.html`, `style.css`, `script.js`. No inline `<script>` blocks beyond one deferred `script.js` reference. No inline CSS.
* **Naming:** One consistent convention (BEM: `.btn--primary`, `.card__title`, `.pricing__tier`) across the entire deliverable — never mix conventions.
* **Content:** Write real, theme-appropriate English copy for a Talavera ceramics studio landing page (hero headline, feature descriptions, step titles, testimonial quotes, pricing tier names/prices/features, FAQ Q&As, CTA text, footer links). No lorem ipsum.
* **Theme toggle JS** in `script.js` handles localStorage persistence and `aria-pressed` state; no other behavioral JS beyond what's needed for the toggle and any accordion/modal interactions.
* Validate both light and dark modes before delivering — the source spec does not declare modes, so both must be complete and contrast-checked.
