**Project:** "KARESANSUI — A Dry Garden" · Complete Landing Page (Single Attempt)

**Role & Objective:** You are a Senior Frontend Engineer and Expert UI Designer. Build, in one attempt with no follow-up questions, a complete, production-ready landing page for a fictional brand themed **KARESANSUI — a dry garden** (2020s Contemporary, Minimal/Zen). Every numbered rule below is mandatory. The design must evoke raked sand, weathered stone, mist, and generous negative space (*ma*), expressed through glassmorphism, neumorphism, soft gradients, and blur.

---

## 1. THEME DEFINITION & TOKEN MAPPING

**1.1 Concept & Mood:** Karesansui = Japanese dry rock garden. Keywords: *karesansui, garden, minimal, zen, glass, translucent, gradient, blur*. Typography is airy and unhurried; spacing is generous; motion is slow and graceful.

**1.2 Color Token Mapping (Light = default `:root`, Dark = `.dark`):**

| Token | Light (default) | Dark |
|---|---|---|
| `--bg-primary` | `#F4EEE1` | `#2B2721` |
| `--bg-secondary` | `#EDE5D3` | `#35302A` |
| `--surface-glass` | `rgba(232,220,200,0.55)` | `rgba(53,48,42,0.55)` |
| `--primary` | `#2B2721` (ink) | `#E8DCC8` (sand) |
| `--on-primary` | `#F4EEE1` | `#2B2721` |
| `--secondary` | `#C2AE8B` | `#C2AE8B` |
| `--text-primary` | `#2B2721` | `#F4EEE1` |
| `--text-secondary` | `#6B6154` | `#C2AE8B` |
| `--text-success` | `#55684F` (muted moss) | `#9DB48F` |
| `--text-error` | `#A5503C` (muted clay) | `#E8927B` |
| `--border-default` | `rgba(107,97,84,0.28)` | `rgba(194,174,139,0.28)` |
| `--border-error` / `--border-success` | Derived from error/success tokens at ~0.45 alpha | Same tokens, adjusted alpha for dark |

* Enforce contrast pairing in **both** themes: every light background token pairs with a dark text token and vice versa. Verify ≥ 4.5:1 for body text in both modes (e.g., `#6B6154` on `#F4EEE1` ≈ 5:1; `#C2AE8B` on `#2B2721` ≈ 6.6:1 — re-check any value you change).
* Light backgrounds are already non-white per palette; if any near-white surface is ever needed, use `#fefefe`, never `#ffffff`.

**1.3 Shape, Depth & Motion Tokens:** Define `--radius-sm: 10px`, `--radius-md: 18px`, `--radius-lg: 28px`; neumorphic dual shadows `--shadow-sm` / `--shadow-md` (Light: e.g., `6px 6px 14px rgba(43,39,33,0.10), -6px -6px 14px rgba(255,254,251,0.75)`; Dark: inverted dark/lights); `--spacing-gap: 1.5rem`; `--transition-fast: 160ms`; `--transition-normal: 380ms`; `--ease-standard: cubic-bezier(0.22, 1, 0.36, 1)`; `--z-dropdown: 100`, `--z-modal: 1000`, `--z-toast: 1100`; `--font-display: "Shippori Mincho", serif`, `--font-base: "Inter", sans-serif`.

**1.4 Signature Effects (all in CSS, never inline):**
* **Glass:** `backdrop-filter: blur(14px) saturate(1.15)` (+ `-webkit-` prefix) on `--surface-glass` with hairline `--border-default`; provide a solid fallback background inside `@supports not (backdrop-filter: blur(1px))`.
* **Neumorphism:** Reserved for embedded controls — icon chips, step markers, inputs (inset dual shadows). Never place neumorphic-styled body text on ambiguous surfaces; keep text contrast intact.
* **Gradients & Blur:** Layered radial gradients (`#E8DCC8 → #F4EEE1` with faint `#C2AE8B` washes) as ambient "mist"; decorative blurred "stone" orbs (`filter: blur(64px)`, low-opacity palette circles, `pointer-events: none`, `aria-hidden="true"`); a faint raked-sand texture using `repeating-radial-gradient` arcs at ≤ 6% opacity.
* **Hover Effects:** Every interactive element responds visibly (Section 3).

**1.5 Light/Dark Exception Clause:** The source style spec flags Light (✓) as primary and Dark (○) as secondary; **Dark Mode support remains mandatory regardless** — ship Light as the default presentation and Dark as a fully designed, toggleable equal (Section 2.3).

## 2. STRICT RULES & ARCHITECTURE

**2.1 CSS-First Architecture & Zero Inline CSS:** All styling lives in `style.css`. The `style="..."` attribute is forbidden anywhere in `index.html`. Target everything via class or ID selectors. HTML stays semantic and style-agnostic — changing the theme must require editing CSS only.

**2.2 CSS Variables Only:** Never hardcode colors, radii, shadows, timing, or z-index values in component rules or utility classes — every value routes through the tokens in 1.2/1.3. Any Tailwind color/spacing utilities must use arbitrary values bound to variables (e.g., `text-[color:var(--text-secondary)]`, `bg-[var(--surface-glass)]`).

**2.3 Mandatory Dark Mode:** Define dark tokens under the `.dark` class on `<html>`. A visible **theme toggle button** (Material Symbols `light_mode` / `dark_mode` icons, correct `aria-pressed` and `aria-label` states) lives in the header. Persist choice via `localStorage`; on first visit fall back to `prefers-color-scheme`. Background/text variables must switch with zero HTML restructuring.

**2.4 Flexbox Layout & Mobile-First Alignment:** Build all layout with Flexbox (`display: flex`). Every flex container must default to `align-items: center` (`items-center`) unless an exception is explicitly justified in a CSS comment. Multi-column rows (features, steps, pricing, testimonials) use `flex-wrap` with `flex: 1 1 300px`-style bases so they collapse to single column below ~768px. No horizontal scrolling at any viewport width. All touch targets ≥ 44×44px.

**2.5 Tailwind CSS Integration:** Load Tailwind via CDN (`<script src="https://cdn.tailwindcss.com"></script>` — external reference only, **no inline config script**). Use Tailwind exclusively for structural utilities (flex, alignment, gap, padding, max-width, responsive prefixes) with arbitrary values bound to CSS variables per 2.2. All component identity, colors, effects, and states live in `style.css` as reusable classes (`.btn`, `.card`, `.input-group`, `.faq-item`, etc.).

**2.6 Typography & Icons (Google Fonts Mandatory):** Link Google Fonts `"Shippori Mincho"` (500/600 — display headings) and `"Inter"` (400/500/600 — body), bound to `--font-display` / `--font-base`. Icons: Google Material Symbols (**Rounded** variant) via the official stylesheet. Decorative icons get `aria-hidden="true"`; raw inline SVGs and local icon files are forbidden.

## 3. COMPONENT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

**3.1 Buttons (`.btn` + variants):** Style every state via classes —
* **Default:** `display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; gap: 0.5rem;` min 44×44px.
* **Hover:** brightness/soft-shadow shift, `cursor: pointer`.
* **Focus:** distinct `:focus-visible` ring built from `--secondary` / `--primary` tokens (2px, 2px offset).
* **Active:** `transform: scale(0.98)` press feedback.
* **Loading:** `.is-loading` disables interaction (prevents double-clicks), renders a CSS spinner or animated Material icon without changing button dimensions.
* **Disabled:** `opacity: 0.5`, grayscale, `cursor: not-allowed`.
* **Success/Error:** feedback styles driven by `--text-success` / `--text-error`.
* **Variants:** `.btn--primary` (`--primary` bg, `--on-primary` text — inverts cleanly per theme), `.btn--ghost` (glass surface + border), `.btn--danger` (defined and visually distinct in **both** themes).

**3.2 Cards (`.card` family):**
* **Default:** glass surface, `--radius-md/lg`, hairline border, token shadows; flexible flexbox interior, `align-items: center` where sensible.
* **Hover:** `translateY(-2px)` + shadow deepen on interactive cards (pricing, feature cards).
* **Focus-within:** card border highlights when a child link/button is focused.
* **Skeleton:** define `.skeleton` shimmer animation classes in the stylesheet (layout-stable, for future async use).
* **Empty State:** define `.empty-state` pattern — Material icon + short guidance text — in the design system.

**3.3 Forms & Inputs (`.input-group`):** Flex column wrapping `<label>`, input, and a dedicated error container (`aria-live="polite"`). States via classes: empty, focused (outline ring), filled, valid (`--border-success` + check icon), invalid (`--border-error`, `--text-error` message, error icon, `aria-invalid="true"`, `aria-describedby`), disabled, read-only. Neumorphic inset styling on the input surface.

**3.4 FAQ Accordion (disclosure):** Custom pattern — trigger `<button class="faq__trigger">` with `aria-expanded` + `aria-controls`, panel with `role="region"` + `aria-labelledby`, rotating Material `expand_more` chevron, smooth open/close via CSS transition, full keyboard operability, hover and focus-visible states.

**3.5 Overlays (mobile menu drawer):** Centered/anchored flex container (`align-items: center`), backdrop overlay, animated opening/closing states (`.is-open`), focus trapping, close via `Esc` and overlay click, body scroll lock, z-index from `--z-modal`.

## 4. PAGE STRUCTURE (exact sections, all in `index.html`)

Container: `max-width: 1120px`; section rhythm: `clamp(4rem, 10vw, 7rem)` vertical padding. One `<h1>` (Hero); each section gets `<h2>` + `id` anchor; nav links target those anchors. Write all user-facing copy in **English** — real, thematic copy for a coherent fictional brand (a minimalist mindfulness/focus product named "Karesansui"), never lorem ipsum.

**4.1 Sticky Header (glass):** Brand wordmark, anchor links (Features, How It Works, Testimonials, Pricing, FAQ), theme toggle (2.3), compact CTA. On mobile, links collapse into a hamburger opening the drawer (3.5). Add `.is-scrolled` on scroll for stronger glass/shadow.

**4.2 Hero:** Layered CSS-only garden — blurred stone orbs + raked-sand radial texture + mist gradients (all `aria-hidden` / pseudo-elements, `pointer-events: none`), with a glass panel containing the `<h1>` (e.g., "Cultivate a quieter mind, one stone at a time."), supporting paragraph, and CTA pair: `.btn--primary` ("Begin your practice" → `#pricing`) and `.btn--ghost` ("See how it works" → `#how-it-works`). Gentle scroll cue (Material `south` icon, decorative).

**4.3 Features — 3 cards:** Glass cards, each with a neumorphic icon chip (Material icons: e.g., `spa`, `filter_hdr`, `self_improvement`), `<h3>`, copy. Staggered reveal, hover lift.

**4.4 How It Works — 3 steps:** Flex row wrap; numbered markers 01/02/03 in neumorphic circles connected by a hairline (pseudo-element; vertical on mobile). Step themes: *Rake* (clear the noise) → *Place* (set your stones) → *Contemplate* (return to stillness).

**4.5 Testimonials — 3 cards:** Material `format_quote` icon, believable fictional English quotes, initial-based avatar circle (`--secondary` bg), name + role. Subtle hover.

**4.6 Pricing — 3 tiers:** Flex row wrap; middle tier `.pricing-card--featured` (accent border, "Most chosen" badge, elevation, `.btn--primary`; others `.btn--ghost`). Each: tier name, monthly price, blurb, feature list with Material `check` icons, CTA.

**4.7 FAQ:** 5–6 themed items using the 3.4 accordion pattern (e.g., experience required, cancel anytime, offline use, privacy, team use).

**4.8 Final CTA:** Full-width glass panel over a gradient wash; heading + copy + email capture form per 3.3 (label "Email address", submit button). JS flow: validate → button `.is-loading` (~900ms) → inline success message with check icon inside the `aria-live` region.

**4.9 Footer:** Inverted grounding block — `--primary` background with `--on-primary` text in both themes (contrast pairing enforced). Brand + one-line description, 2–3 columns of secondary links (Product, Company, Support), social icon links (Material icons, `aria-label`s), bottom bar with copyright and legal links, all focusable with visible focus rings.

## 5. CORE UX & MICRO-INTERACTION RULES

* **Responsive by default:** fluid `clamp()` type scale, no horizontal overflow, rows → columns on small viewports.
* **Smooth motion:** `transition: var(--transition-normal) var(--ease-standard)` on all state changes. Reveal-on-scroll via `IntersectionObserver` toggling `.is-visible` (opacity + 16px rise, staggered `transition-delay`); ambient hero orb drift (~24s, alternate) — **all motion disabled/neutralized under `prefers-reduced-motion`**, with elements rendered visible immediately.
* **Accessibility:** semantic landmarks (`header`, `main`, `footer`, `section` with `aria-labelledby`), skip-to-content link, logical focus order, full keyboard operability (no mouse-only interactions), `aria-live` for form feedback, ≥ 4.5:1 contrast in both modes, never color alone to communicate state (errors pair icon + text), smooth scroll with `scroll-padding-top` for the sticky header (disabled under reduced motion).
* **Mandatory feedback:** every hover, click, focus, and submission triggers a visible state change.

---

## 6. DELIVERABLE & OUTPUT FORMAT

* **Files:** `index.html`, `style.css`, `script.js` — separate files. The only `<script>` references allowed: the Tailwind CDN (external `src`), and one `<script src="script.js" defer>`. No inline JavaScript.
* **Naming:** BEM for components only (`.btn`, `.btn--primary`, `.pricing-card--featured`, `.faq__trigger`, `.faq__panel`, `.input-group__error`); state classes as `.is-*` (`.is-open`, `.is-visible`, `.is-loading`, `.has-error`); Tailwind utilities for structure only. Never mix conventions.
* **script.js scope (no libraries):** theme toggle + persistence (2.3), header scroll state, mobile drawer (3.5), FAQ accordion (3.4), reveal observer, form validation + simulated submit (4.8).
* **Copy:** all user-facing text in English, real and on-theme; no lorem ipsum.
* **Completeness:** deliver the entire finished page in one response — every button and link wired to a real anchor or behavior, both themes fully working.
