## Build: "Chrome / Liquid Metal" Landing Page — Output Category: Retro & Pop

**Role & Mission:** You are a Senior Frontend Engineer and Expert UI Designer. Generate the complete, production-ready code for a landing page **on the first attempt** — one full deliverable, no partial output, no follow-up questions. Theme: **Chrome / Liquid Metal** (claude-artisan/texture). Aesthetic era: **1990s chrome logos × 2020s chrome-typography revival**.

**Product & Copy:** Invent one coherent fictional product and write all copy around it — suggested: **"MOLTEN," a real-time liquid-metal 3D rendering engine for designers**. All user-facing copy must be written in **English**. No lorem ipsum.

**Required sections, in order:** Sticky Header/Nav → Hero → Features (3 cards) → How It Works (3 steps) → Testimonials → Pricing (3 tiers) → FAQ → Final CTA → Footer with secondary links.

**Source note (translated from the spec):** *"The source spec does not declare modes; validate in light and dark before publishing."* → Both themes are mandatory (§1.3) and the acceptance checklist (§6) must pass in **each** theme.

## 0. THEME DEFINITION & SIGNATURE MOVES

* **Keywords:** liquid metal, chrome type, reflective mirror-metal surfaces and type, environment-map reflections, top-light gradients, cold silver/steel with rainbow edge, heavy, premium, futuristic, texture, shadow.
* **Signature move (apply consistently):** a top-lit vertical chrome gradient (light→dark→light, mimicking an environment-map reflection) paired with a thin rainbow-gradient edge. Repeat on: primary button, card top border, badge, hero display type, step-number chips, featured pricing tier, nav bottom border.
* **Chrome type:** display headlines fill with the chrome gradient via `background-clip: text` / `text-fill-color: transparent`, with a solid `--text-primary` fallback wrapped in `@supports`.
* **All visuals are CSS-only** (layered radial/conic gradients, blurs, sheen animations). No external or local image files.

**Reference baseline CSS (from the source spec — extend it, do not regress it; rename tokens per §1.2):**

```css
## 1. STRICT RULES & ARCHITECTURE
### 1.1 CSS-First Architecture & Zero Inline CSS
* **No inline CSS:** the `style="..."` attribute is forbidden anywhere in the HTML.
* **Class/ID selectors only:** every design property, layout rule, and state is targeted via class or ID selectors in `style.css`.
* **Minimal HTML modifications:** markup stays clean, semantic, and style-agnostic — restyling must never require touching the HTML.
### 1.2 CSS Variables & Theme Tokens
Store all tokens in `:root` (light defaults) with `html.dark` overrides. **Rename the baseline `--color-*` tokens to the canonical names:**
| Canonical token | Maps from | Dark value | Light value |
|---|---|---|---|
| `--bg-primary` | `--color-bg` | `#1c1e22` | `#e9edf2` |
| `--bg-secondary` | `--color-surface` | `#2a2d33` | `#fefefe` |
| `--bg-tertiary` | `--color-surface-strong` | `#383c44` | `#d7dce4` |
| `--text-primary` | `--color-text` | `#f1f3f5` | `#1c1e22` |
| `--text-secondary` | `--color-text-muted` | `#b7bec8` | `#454c57` |
| `--primary` | `--color-primary` | `#c7cdd6` | `#525a66` |
| `--secondary` | `--color-accent` | `#7dd3fc` | `#0284c7` |
| `--border-default` | `--color-border` | `#6b727e` | `#9aa1ab` |
* **Mandatory additions (both themes):** `--accent` (alias of `--secondary`); `--text-success`, `--text-error`, `--border-success`, `--border-error` (dark: `#4ade80` / `#f87171`; light: `#15803d` / `#dc2626`); and `--text-on-chrome: #1c1e22` — **fixed in both themes**, because the chrome gradient is always a light reflective surface. The baseline rules `.btn { color: var(--color-bg) }` and `.badge { color: var(--color-bg) }` must therefore become `color: var(--text-on-chrome)`.
* **Signature tokens stay identical in both themes:** `--chrome-gradient`, `--rainbow-edge`.
* **Keep the baseline scales:** `--radius-sm/md/lg/pill`, `--text-xs…--text-5xl`, `--space-1…--space-24`, `--ease-standard`. **Extend with:** `--spacing-gap: var(--space-6)`, `--transition-fast: 120ms`, `--transition-normal: 240ms`, `--z-dropdown: 1000`, `--z-modal: 1100`, `--z-toast: 1200`.
* **Shadows:** dark keeps the baseline values; light softens them (e.g., `--shadow-md: 0 6px 16px rgba(28,30,34,0.14)`).
* **Contrast pairing (hard rule):** every light background token pairs with a dark text token and every dark background with a light text token, in **both** themes. Never place theme text on the chrome gradient — always `--text-on-chrome`.
* **Light background rule:** the light-mode page background is cool steel `#e9edf2`, never pure white; use `#fefefe` where a near-white surface is needed.
* **Border-image caveat:** `border-image` ignores `border-radius`; wherever the rainbow edge must follow a rounded corner (cards, featured tier), render it with a pseudo-element gradient bar or a padding-box/border-box double background instead.
### 1.3 Mandatory Light & Dark Themes
* Light tokens in `:root`; dark overrides in `html.dark`; honor `@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark)` for first visits.
* **Theme toggle:** a visible icon button in the header with correct `aria-pressed` (true when dark is active) and a descriptive `aria-label`; Material Symbol `dark_mode` / `light_mode` swaps with the theme.
* **Persistence:** store the choice in `localStorage` (key `chrome-theme`), falling back to `prefers-color-scheme` on first visit; apply it as the **first operation** in `script.js`, and include `<meta name="color-scheme" content="light dark">`.
* Switching themes must require **zero HTML restructuring** — variable swaps only. Validate both themes before publishing (source note, top of this prompt).
### 1.4 Flexbox Layout & Mobile-First Alignment
* Build all layout structures with Flexbox (grid only for card/pricing/testimonial rows).
* **Every flex container defaults to `align-items: center`** unless a deviation is deliberate and commented (e.g., `stretch` for full-width card children).
* Mobile-first: multi-column rows collapse to a single column below 768px; no horizontal scrolling at any width ≥320px; all touch targets ≥44×44px.
### 1.5 Framework Default & Tailwind CSS Integration
* Use **Tailwind CSS** (Play CDN is acceptable for this deliverable) for structural utilities only — flex, grid, gap, spacing, responsive prefixes.
* All skinning and branding live in `style.css` as reusable component classes (`.btn`, `.card`, `.input-group`) bound to the CSS variables. Utilities must never hardcode hex values.
### 1.6 Typography & Icons — Google Fonts Mandatory
* Load via Google Fonts `<link>`: **'Archivo Black'** (display), **'Archivo'** 400/500/700 (body), **'Space Mono'** (eyebrow labels, step numerals). Bind them to `--font-base`, `--font-display`, `--font-mono`.
* **Exception clause:** the source spec lists a local `'Helvetica Neue'` stack; the mandatory Google Fonts rule supersedes it — the Archivo family reproduces the same heavy, premium grotesque character.
* **Icons:** Google Material Symbols (Rounded), used as `<span class="material-symbols-rounded" aria-hidden="true">icon_name</span>`. Raw inline SVGs and local icon files are forbidden.
## 2. COMPONENT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
### 2.1 Buttons
* **Default:** `.btn` — `display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; gap: 0.5rem;` minimum 44×44px, `--radius-pill`, 700 weight, transitions on `var(--transition-fast) var(--ease-standard)`.
* **Variants (BEM):** `.btn--primary` (chrome gradient + 2px rainbow bottom edge via pseudo-element, `--text-on-chrome` text); `.btn--secondary` (`--bg-tertiary` surface, `--text-primary` text, `--border-default` border); `.btn--danger` (error-tinted, visually distinct in **both** themes).
* **Hover:** brightness/shadow lift + `translateY(-1px)`; `cursor: pointer`.
* **Focus:** distinct `:focus-visible` ring using `--secondary` (`outline: 2px solid var(--secondary); outline-offset: 2px`).
* **Active/Pressed:** `transform: scale(0.97)` — this mandatory press feedback supersedes the baseline's `translateY(0)`.
* **Loading:** `.is-loading` — `aria-busy="true"`, pointer events disabled, double-click prevention, a CSS spinner overlaid without changing button dimensions (keep the label in the DOM, visually hidden).
* **Disabled:** `opacity: 0.5`, grayscale filter, `cursor: not-allowed`, no hover transform.
* **Success/Error:** `.is-success` / `.is-error` — temporary feedback styled with `--text-success` / `--text-error` plus a swapped Material Symbol; announced through an `aria-live="polite"` region.
### 2.2 Cards
* **Default:** flexible flex column, `--bg-secondary`, `--radius-lg`, `--shadow-md`, rainbow top edge (pseudo-element technique per §1.2 caveat).
* **Hover:** `transform: translateY(-2px)` + elevation shift to `--shadow-lg`.
* **Focus-within:** border/glow highlight in `--secondary` when a child link or button receives focus.
* **Loading (skeleton):** `.card--skeleton` shimmer keyframes defined in CSS; layout-stable; respects `prefers-reduced-motion`.
* **Empty state:** `.card--empty` pattern — centered Material Symbol plus clear guidance text.
* **Featured (pricing):** `.card--featured` — chrome-gradient border via pseudo-element, `.badge` "MOST POPULAR", subtle desktop scale-up.
### 2.3 Forms & Inputs
* **Structure:** `.input-group` — flex column wrapping a `<label for>`, the `.input` field, and a dedicated `.input-feedback` container with `aria-live="polite"`.
* **States:** empty; focused (accent border + 3px ring per baseline); filled; valid (`.is-valid` — success border + check Material Symbol); invalid (`.is-invalid` — error border, error icon, and error **text**, never color alone); disabled; read-only (muted, dashed border, no ring).
* **Behavior (Final CTA form):** JS email validation → invalid shows `.is-invalid` + message; valid triggers `.is-loading` on the button (simulated ≥800ms) → `.is-success` + success message; no double submissions.
### 2.4 FAQ Accordion
* Each item: `<button class="faq__trigger" aria-expanded="…" aria-controls="…">` + `<div class="faq__panel" role="region">`; chevron Material Symbol rotates 180° via CSS transition.
* Animate open/close with the CSS `grid-template-rows: 0fr → 1fr` technique (no JS height measurement); fully keyboard operable; visible `:focus-visible` ring; no animation under `prefers-reduced-motion`.
### 2.5 Modal / Popup (conditional)
Not required by the section list — but if any overlay is introduced it must use: a centered flex container (`align-items: center`), backdrop overlay, Material Symbol close button, keyboard focus trapping, closing via `Esc` or overlay click, `--z-modal`, and animated opening/open/loading/success-error/closing states via CSS transitions.
### 2.6 Navigation & Theme Toggle
* Sticky `.nav` per the baseline (surface background, 2px rainbow `border-image` bottom), flex, `align-items: center`.
* Mobile: hamburger button with `aria-expanded` + `aria-controls`; slide-down panel at `--z-dropdown`; closes on `Esc` and on link click; focus remains visible.
* Theme toggle per §1.3. Add `scroll-margin-top` to sections for the sticky-header anchor offset; `scroll-behavior: smooth` disabled under reduced motion.
---
## 3. CORE UX & MICRO-INTERACTION RULES
* **Responsive by default:** fluid `clamp()` type scaling, breakpoints without horizontal overflow.
* **Smooth animations:** every state change transitions with `var(--transition-normal)`; `prefers-reduced-motion` disables all transforms, sheen, shimmer, marquee, and spinner motion.
* **Accessibility:** WCAG AA contrast (≥4.5:1 body, ≥3:1 large display) in **both** themes; never rely on color alone; semantic HTML5 landmarks (`header`, `nav`, `main`, `section`, `footer`), a single `h1`, one `h2` per section; logical DOM/focus order; full keyboard operability; `aria-live` regions for all dynamic feedback; a "Skip to main content" link.
* **Mandatory visual feedback:** every click, hover, and submission triggers a visible state change.
* **Destructive actions:** `.btn-danger` must be visually distinct in both light and dark themes.
* **Layering:** any dropdown, modal, or toast must use `--z-dropdown` / `--z-modal` / `--z-toast` respectively.
---
## 4. DELIVERABLE & OUTPUT FORMAT
* **Files:** separate `index.html`, `style.css`, `script.js`. A single `<script src="script.js" defer></script>` reference; no inline `<script>` blocks, no inline event handlers (`onclick`, etc.).
* **Naming:** BEM only (`.card__title`, `.btn--primary`, `.faq__item`) — never mix conventions.
* **Copy:** real, product-coherent English copy throughout; `href="#"` is permitted only for footer secondary links targeting pages that do not exist, and those links must remain keyboard-focusable.
* **No unrequested placeholders.**
---
## 5. SECTION-BY-SECTION BUILD SPECIFICATION
* **5.1 Header/Nav:** chrome-type wordmark logo; anchor links (Features, How It Works, Testimonials, Pricing, FAQ) with rainbow hover underline and focus rings; `.theme-toggle`; compact `.btn--primary` CTA; mobile menu per §2.6.
* **5.2 Hero:** `.badge` eyebrow (e.g., "V2.0 — LIQUID ENGINE"); `h1` in chrome-gradient display type (fluid up to `--text-5xl`, `@supports` fallback); subhead in `--text-secondary`; CTA row (flex, centered, wrapping) with `.btn--primary` + `.btn--secondary`; a CSS-only liquid-metal orb (layered radial/conic gradients, blurred specular highlight, slow sheen sweep, `aria-hidden="true"`); optional retro marquee strip of chrome words between hero and features (`aria-hidden`, reduced-motion safe).
* **5.3 Features:** exactly 3 `.card`s (1 column <768px, 3 columns ≥768px); each with a Material Symbol in a chrome chip, `h3`, and real copy; rainbow top edge; hover lift; focus-within highlight. Suggested angles: real-time reflections, material presets, one-click export.
* **5.4 How It Works:** semantic `<ol>` of 3 steps; chrome-gradient number chips 01/02/03; title + copy per step; connecting gradient line on desktop, vertical stack on mobile.
* **5.5 Testimonials:** 3 quote cards; quote Material Symbol; 5-star rating (star icons, `aria-label` on the group); author row with CSS chrome-gradient avatar circle + initials, name, and role; realistic fictional quotes.
* **5.6 Pricing:** 3 tiers (e.g., Free $0, Pro $19/mo featured, Studio $49/mo); middle tier uses `.card--featured` per §2.2; feature lists with check Material Symbols; per-tier CTAs (featured → `.btn--primary`, others → `.btn--secondary`); the featured tier must stand out in both themes.
* **5.7 FAQ:** 5 accordion items per §2.4 with real Q&A copy about the product.
* **5.8 Final CTA:** full-width panel (`--bg-tertiary`, chrome/rainbow border, `--radius-lg`); `h2` in chrome type; email capture form per §2.3 (input + button inline on desktop, stacked on mobile); privacy microcopy; success/error feedback via `aria-live`.
* **5.9 Footer:** brand column (logo, one-liner) + 3 secondary link groups (Product, Company, Resources); social icon row (Material Symbols with `aria-label`s); bottom bar with © year and tagline.
## 6. ACCEPTANCE CHECKLIST — VALIDATE IN LIGHT AND DARK BEFORE PUBLISHING
* Zero `style="..."` attributes, zero inline handlers, single deferred script, BEM consistent, canonical token names only.
* Both themes pass: AA contrast, chrome-type readability, distinct featured tier / `.btn-danger` / focus rings / success and error states in light **and** dark.
* Theme toggle persists via `localStorage`; first visit honors `prefers-color-scheme`; no HTML restructuring on switch.
* Keyboard-only pass across nav, mobile menu, accordion, form, and toggle; visible focus everywhere; `aria-live` feedback present.
* `prefers-reduced-motion` respected everywhere; no horizontal scroll from 320px to 1920px; all flex containers default to `align-items: center`.
* Signature chrome gradient + rainbow edge present on all mandated surfaces; all copy in coherent English.
